Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 3/9/16

Jake's Picks:

Mockingbird #1 Mockingbird is here and with her own series!  I became a big fan of the character during her participation in Secret Avengers.  This series deals with her health and the side effects of the super soldier serum as well as the infinity formula.  There's a lot of humor in it and the medical side of SHIELD is not something you see everyday.  I highly suggest trying this book out.

Head Lopper #3 I can't get over how much fun Head Lopper is.  Being a quarterly book, I always forget about it until I see it come up on the new releases list, then I'm full of excitement.  Andrew MacLean gives us a book that's like Adventure Time for adults, I'm sad there's only one more issue left but I know it'll go out with a bang.

Black Knight #5 I'm very sad that this is the final issue of Black Knight.  I feel it never had the chance to gather some steam and become one of Marvel's great new books.  This issue wraps up the struggle of the Ebony Blade with Dane and the Uncanny Avengers.  While it feels a bit rushed, I blame that on the cancellation of the series.  This has been my favorite Marvel title, and I'm sad to see it go but it was a great ride.

Mike's Picks:

Spider-Gwen #6 This book has a very nice conclusion to this arc. Everything is tied up really nicely as far as how the manhunt for Spider-gwen has met ends-meet with Captain American and Harry Osborn. I think these last five issues have definitely set up for the even bigger stories in the future and I'm happy to see how Gwen's relationship wither her detective father works in this story. Really happy with the end of this arc.

Mighty Thor #5 OH LORDY! This issue is the Mecca of Aaron's female Thor stories. Not only do we have an all out civil war, but Thor and Odin are tearing into each other! This is no battle for the faint-of-heart either. We are talking about a battle that is jumping from planet to planet. And if that's not enough for you, just wait til you get to the ending.... or is that the ending....?

Action Comics #50 Action Comics is definitely my favorite Super-man book right now. And issue 50 was really a great monument to our favorite man in blue. Savage has really did a number to the League and Superman and his pals, but even when there is no hope we really see where Superman shines. I love how this book shows us that it's not just Clark that makes Superman but its all of his amazing friends and acquaintances who help make Clack Superman.
