Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 3/23/16

Jake's Picks:

Obi-Wan and Anakin #3 Obi-Wan and Anakin team together to take on a strange new world …but they are brought into even stranger circumstances. Will the duo be able to save themselves and this world they’ve been called to?  Just when it seemed like everyone was getting along, a wrench gets thrown in!

Sonic the Hedgehog #279 Sonic is in a fight for his life!  Sonic and his friends are at the mercy of Egg Boss Nephthys and her Egg Army. They came to rescue a Gaia Key Guardian-but can they manage to escape with their lives? Then, in the finale to “Hidden Costs,” revelations abound! Sally and Clove both think their plans have succeeded-but at what cost? Featuring cover art by jamming Jamal Peppers and Jennifer Hernandez!  This book always brings a nostalgia factor for me, no matter how old I become, it's never too old for Sonic; it's still fun.

Deathstroke #16 Aww yeah—it’s Deathstroke versus Red Hood! If Slade Wilson wants to find his missing daughter, he’ll need to escape the sights of the deadliest Bat-family member of them all. Doesn't the cover pique your interest?  This is one of the most beautifully drawn books I've seen a long time and it illustrates one of the coolest fights we could hope to see.   Check it out!

Mike's Picks:

Batman #50 It's finally here! The return of Bruce Wayne!!! Of course we all knew it was going to be inevitable... But I'm excited to see him work with James Gordan's Batman. Alas, it is a bittersweet reminder that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will soon be off the book.

Totally Awesome Hulk #4 This book is just a wonderful and tasteful take on Hulk. I think Cho is really a perfect choice of character. It's such a contrast to Banner who wants to rid himself of Hulk where Cho just embraces it, but can Cho really control it? You've just got to keep reading.

Worse X-man Ever #2 Max Bemis is the lead singer of my favorite band Say Anything and he is a huge X-men fan. Now we can see how well his song writing can morph in to book writing. The first issue was humorously dark, I mean very hilarious and incredibly dark. Its definitely an off beat book but I think its fun.
