Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 8/26/15

Here are the picks of the week!  What books did you pick up?

Jake's Picks:

Aquaman #43 The King of the Seas is facing one of his biggest challenges yet.  A race from another plane of existence threatens Atlantis and it seems like Aquaman is on his own.  In this issue, Aquaman finds a way to even the odds and it's the coolest thing to happen since Cullen Bunn has started the series.  It's one you have to check out!

Sonic Universe #79 Silver is back!  A character introduced in the Sonic the Hedgehog game back in 2006, he has a unique set of powers that no one else in the Sonic universe has.  Now we get a whole story arc dedicated to the character and it starts off strong.  I can't wait to see where this one goes.

Justice League 3001 #3 In my opinion, this series is the most fun series DC puts out each month.  There is so much humor in each issue from DeMatties and Giffen, it's like reading their old Justice League series from the 80's.  With Howard Porter on art duties, this is a gorgeous book that continues to impress.

Mike's Picks:

Godzilla in Hell #2 The first was visually enticing.  I love James Stokoe's art and his story telling through the art.  Even with no dialogue, the last issue was a very cool story.  Each issue coming out has a new writer and artist and the artist on this book is sci-fi extraordinaire Bob Eggleton, so expect more great visuals.

Old Man Logan #4 This book is nitty-gritty.  I've never seen Logan take so many brutal beatings, but he has definitely given back everything that he's taken.  The last issue has Logan jumping off the top of a building and impaling a Thor.  It also has a great western feel too.  I believe that Logan as an old man is like Clint Eastwood in High Plains Drifter.

We Are Robin #3 It's great the DC has been putting out books that revolve around Gotham but don't center around Batman.  This story to me is like The Warriors meets West Side Story.  A team of young people taking on the sidekick identity in the absence of Batman.  It's a totally fun read.
