Best of Convergence

Post by Jake

I know the store wasn't able to get any Convergence titles in while that event was going on, but I thought I would share which ones particularly stood out for me.  I read ten of the forty different spin-offs and here were my top three favorites.

3. Booster Gold

Booster Gold has always been one of my favorite characters and having Dan Jurgens write the two issue arc was a joy.  I'm a sucker for a good time travel story, what better character do deliver on that than Booster?

2. Shazam

This book portrayed Captain Marvel and the Fawcett City characters exactly as they should be.  Jeff Parker brought back the fun, dazzling, happy-go-lucky Captain that was a relief to read.  Apart from superb story-telling, Evan "Doc" Shaner's art and Jordy Bellaire's colors win for the best interiors of the entire event.  Fawcett has never looked better.

1. Justice Society of America

The winner goes to Justice Society of America.  This series read like a love letter to the old characters.  We get to see Hawkman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Dr. Fate work flawlessly as a team against the Qwardian super weapon, and it was absolutely perfect.  I wish this particular series was a new on-going because Dan Abnett, Trevor Scott, Tom Derenick, and Dan Panosian hit it out of the park.
