Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/30/15

Jake's Picks:

Obi-Wan & Anakin #1 I didn't know what to expect from this issue with it taking place during the prequel-era.  But with Charles Soule and Marco Checchetto working on this book, they set up what's going to be a really fun six-issue series.  Obi-Wan and Anakin respond to a distress signal requesting Jedi intervention on what was thought to be a deserted planet.  After crash-landing, it seems like the planet is anything but deserted.  If you're a Star Wars fan I highly suggest this new series.

Clarence: Rest Stops #1 I'm a huge fan of the show Clarence, it's hilarious and the art-style is great.  After I read the first Clarence series I was begging for more and Boom! Studios has delivered.  This mini series follows Clarence and his family as they go on a road trip and all sorts of hilarity ensues.  This is one for kids and adults both to enjoy.

Spidey #2 It's nice to read a Spider-Man book where Peter is back in high school and starting out as Spidey for the first time.  It's a bit hokey but the art is very good and it feels like a breath of fresh air, especially with everything that's happened to Peter over the last couple years.  If you want a fresh start with Spider-Man, this is the book for you.

Mike's Picks:

Captain America White #5 Jeff Loeb has done such a great job showing a relationship between hero and sidekick beyond just being a hero and sidekick.   This book has a real tender feeling that seems earnest through the thoughts of Cap.

Spider-Man 2099 #5 This book has turned dark and I love it.  It really reminds me of the Spider-Man 2099 stories of the 90's and to me, it doesn't get better than that.  I mean, Miguel is ready to rip some heads off!

Savage Dragon #210 Trouble in paradise. Malcolm and Maxine on their honeymoon in hell.  With monster battles and an exotic location, this is Savage Dragon at its best!
