Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/2/15

Jake's Picks:

Daredevil #1 We were all sad when we found out that Mark Waid would no longer be writing Daredevil.  But I must tell you, you have nothing to fear with Charles Soule taking the wheel.  This first issue is fantastic; Daredevil is back in New York and he has a fresh start as both Daredevil and Matt Murdock.  Ron Garney is an absolute rock star on artistic duties as well, this book is gorgeous.  With all of this plus Daredevil's new sidekick, this is one book that's a must-read.

Red Wolf #1 Red Wolf is a character I've always found interesting but never knew much about.  This new series takes place after the events of 1872, where Red Wolf is the sheriff of Timely and a mysterious new-comer is bringing anything but peace to his town.  A stellar creative team is working on this title as well, I can't wait to see where it goes.

Jim Henson's Storyteller: Dragons #1 For as long as I can remember, I've been a fan of Jim Henson's creations, especially The Muppets.  Also being a fan of dragons, I thought this book would be a perfect match and it was.  This is the start of a four issue mini series that features various short stories about dragons.  This was a fun standalone issue with great art and beautiful colors.  If you're a fan of Jim Henson, dragons, or fantasy in general, I suggest this book.

Mike's Picks:

Henchgirl #2 This book is so humorous! The art is really enjoyable and the writing is simple but seems very real and relate-able, and the quick humorous quips makes this really fun read. Its definitely got an indie sense to it but its not overbearing with personal and political views other indie buts try to push on the reader.

Carver, A Paris Story #1 Carver kind of has the feel of a 70's suspense story, similar to great movies like The French Connection. I really enjoy Chris Hunt's art, but sometimes the action seems week, but regardless the story is still great to follow, its even got a follow up story at the end done by Paul Pope and his work is really great. I can't wait for the next one.

Totally Awesome Hulk #1 Once again another humorous book! I've never been let down by a Greg Pak book and you won't be either. It's cool to see a teenager Hulk, its almost as if Peter Parker was hit by Gamma Rays rather than been bit by a Radioactive Spider. I also like how the story gives you the action at the beginning with fillers in between to tell you how Cho became the Hulk . Marvel had done good with this new Hulk tale!
