Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 10/28/15

Jake's Picks

Tokyo Ghost #2 Tokyo Ghost is one of those series that makes you sit back and think about the world.  The comic takes place in the future where technology has completely taken over and ruined society.  The main characters, Led and Debbie, are stuck in Los Angeles and trying to escape to the tech-free paradise that's rumored to be in Tokyo.  Rick Remender, Sean Murphy, and Matt Hollingsworth have delivered us a new series that I just can't get enough of.  I highly suggest Tokyo Ghost.

Robin Son of Batman #5 I was a fan of Damian back when Grant Morrison wrote him in Batman, Inc. and Batman & Robin.  Many people aren't a fan of him because of his attitude but I think that's what sets him apart from the other Robins, it adds something to the character.  This book shows him trying to atone for some of the things he's not proud of in his past, with plenty going wrong in the mean time.  I look forward to this every month.

Kanan #7 I love Star Wars more than most things, so any Star Wars comics that come out end up in my hands.  Having not seen Star Wars Rebels, I was reluctant to try this series out.  I was a dummy.  Kanan is a very good series that shows what happened to a young padawan when the Jedi started being hunted.  It's all the goodness of the extended universe but still canon.

Mike's Picks:

Island #4 I'm always excited about new artist and writers that I normally wouldn't go out of my way to check out. I think Image does a wonderful job of sharing new things to the comic book world and their Island book doesn't just give you one but several books. If you ever feel like you're ready to read something else and you just don't know what you're looking for, you can't go wrong with Island.

Henchgirl #1 Have you ever wonder how henchmen get paid? What are the benefits of working for a super villain? Does it come with health insurance? Employee of the Month even!? This is a very fun story of the working class girl trying to make a buck however she can. You don't have to be a bad guy to be a bad guy.

Wes Craven's Coming of Rage It was a sad day in the Horror Genre when Wes Craven passed away. I grew up with him scaring the hell out of me as a youngster. This book is one of the last things Wes worked on and I'm glad we can get a few more scares from Wes even after his passing!
