Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 10/21/15

Jake's Picks:

Star Wars Shattered Empire #4 I'm always leery when it comes to prequels to movies.  Well, shame on me for thinking that way about Star Wars.  This mini-series has been great from the start; with this final issue, being the perfect way to wrap things up for the new and old characters involved.  If you plan on seeing The Force Awakens, be sure to give this series a read as well.

Voltron From the Ashes #2 I'm writing this in a Voltron shirt, drinking coffee from my Voltron mug, I love Voltron.  While this series isn't the Voltron we're used to, and I was hesitant because of that, Cullen Bunn is giving us a fresh team that's every bit as likable as the original.  Things are heating up in this issue as the Robeasts come back to destroy Voltron.

Batman & Robin Eternal #3 This book has been surprisingly consistent for the first three issues.  We'er seeing a lot of characters come together that I didn't think we'd see together, it's proven to be a fun ride.  Bruce was hiding a secret from the Robins and they're getting closer to figuring out just what that is.

Mike's Picks:

Justice League #45 It was just two months ago that I read Crisis on Infinite Earths and there really hasn't been much about Anti-Monitor since that book. What better way is there to bring in him back than to put him at war with Darksied? If you love things being blown out into epic proportions, then this is the book for you.

Godzilla in Hell #4 There is something just incredible about a story being told with no dialog and just pictures. This book has been such a fantastic play on everyone's favorite movie monster going through a new take on the layers of Hell. One more issue left!

Astonishing Ant-Man #1 Every Ant-man story Marvel has put out in the last few years has been such a fun read. The concept of a divorced man trying to still be a father involved in the life of his daughter and constantly failing due to the consequences of being a hero, plus trying to use those same abilities to find work so you can be a responsible parent just makes for great story telling!
