Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 10/14/15

Jake's Picks:

Earth 2 Society #5 I enjoy reading the Earth 2 series because occasionally I get to see nods to older JSA characters that haven't been around since before the New 52.  We're seeing how the Earth 2 heroes are handling their new planet and cities, along with the villains that landed on this new earth with them.  A storm is brewing and when it hits, it's going to hit hard.

Chewbacca #1 This is definitely one of the more unexpected Marvel Star Wars mini-series to come out but one I've been excited for.  Chewie talks in his growls and roars so we never know quite what he's saying, but this book was written so well that we can understand what he's trying to get across.  With the introduction of a new character as well, this series is shaping up to be a fun ride.

Starfire #5 Starfire is one of those books that I can count on being consistently awesome each and every month.  Jimmy Palmiotti and Amanda Conner are one of the funniest duos working in comics today, and the artwork is just gorgeous.  If you need some fun reading in your life, this is the series for you.

Mike's Picks:

Batman #45 Capullo's art has always been amazing but, I feel like Batman's his best work and it keeps getting better. It's been such a thrill reading Jim Gordon as Batman, and his struggle with being a cop posing as a vigilante. I'm constantly excited to see whats next and how this ark will conclude.

The Wicked and The Divine I've been reading this book since the beginning. I've always loved stories with strange mythos (what comic reader hasn't). I love that this book has taken off and has such a great cult following, which has also lead to the development of a television series!

Spider-Man 2099 #1 Peter David has killed it with this book! And now we get brand new stories! Ever since the original 2099 stories came out Spider-man 2099 has always survived. Maybe not in his own title but he definitely shown up in many of series, same costume and all. Now, it's a new day in Marvel and time for Change in the Spider-man 2099!
