Aquaman #50 I was a fan of Cullen Bunn's run on Aquaman.  It was a fresh story that really added to the mythology of Atlantis.  But wow, Dan Abnett has been knocking it out of the park so far and this big issue is just awesome.  We get a new villain, Mera is really stepping up and we're getting a lot of character development from her and I love it.

Batman #50 It's finally here! The return of Bruce Wayne!!! Of course we all knew it was going to be inevitable... But I'm excited to see him work with James Gordan's Batman. Alas, it is a bittersweet reminder that Scott Snyder and Greg Capullo will soon be off the book.

Totally Awesome Hulk #4 This book is just a wonderful and tasteful take on Hulk. I think Cho is really a perfect choice of character. It's such a contrast to Banner who wants to rid himself of Hulk where Cho just embraces it, but can Cho really control it? You've just got to keep reading.

Worse X-man Ever #2 Max Bemis is the lead singer of my favorite band Say Anything and he is a huge X-men fan. Now we can see how well his song writing can morph in to book writing. The first issue was humorously dark, I mean very hilarious and incredibly dark. Its definitely an off beat book but I think its fun.

Russ Manning Most Promising Newcomer Award-winner Jorge Corona (We Are Robin, Feathers) presents the tale "Samurai's Sacrifice," based on the Japanese folklore of the dragon Yofune Nushi and the young girl who faced him to protect her village.  I'm very sad that this is the last issue of the series.  I'm a massive fan of both Jim Henson and dragons so this series has been an absolute blast for me.  I wish there were more.

Henchgirl #5 Mary Posa hates her job. She works long hours for little pay, no insurance, and, worst of all, no respect. Her coworkers are jerks and her boss doesn't appreciate her. He's also a supervillain. Cursed with a conscience, Mary would give anything to be something other than a Henchgirl. In this issue, Mary deals with the consequences of her actions and also enjoys some free pizza.

Jake's Picks:

Mockingbird #1 Mockingbird is here and with her own series!  I became a big fan of the character during her participation in Secret Avengers.  This series deals with her health and the side effects of the super soldier serum as well as the infinity formula.  There's a lot of humor in it and the medical side of SHIELD is not something you see everyday.  I highly suggest trying this book out.

Head Lopper #3 I can't get over how much fun Head Lopper is.  Being a quarterly book, I always forget about it until I see it come up on the new releases list, then I'm full of excitement.  Andrew MacLean gives us a book that's like Adventure Time for adults, I'm sad there's only one more issue left but I know it'll go out with a bang.

Black Knight #5 I'm very sad that this is the final issue of Black Knight.  I feel it never had the chance to gather some steam and become one of Marvel's great new books.  This issue wraps up the struggle of the Ebony Blade with Dane and the Uncanny Avengers.  While it feels a bit rushed, I blame that on the cancellation of the series.  This has been my favorite Marvel title, and I'm sad to see it go but it was a great ride.

Spider-Gwen #6 This book has a very nice conclusion to this arc. Everything is tied up really nicely as far as how the manhunt for Spider-gwen has met ends-meet with Captain American and Harry Osborn. I think these last five issues have definitely set up for the even bigger stories in the future and I'm happy to see how Gwen's relationship wither her detective father works in this story. Really happy with the end of this arc.

Mighty Thor #5 OH LORDY! This issue is the Mecca of Aaron's female Thor stories. Not only do we have an all out civil war, but Thor and Odin are tearing into each other! This is no battle for the faint-of-heart either. We are talking about a battle that is jumping from planet to planet. And if that's not enough for you, just wait til you get to the ending.... or is that the ending....?

Action Comics #50 Action Comics is definitely my favorite Super-man book right now. And issue 50 was really a great monument to our favorite man in blue. Savage has really did a number to the League and Superman and his pals, but even when there is no hope we really see where Superman shines. I love how this book shows us that it's not just Clark that makes Superman but its all of his amazing friends and acquaintances who help make Clack Superman.

Swamp Thing #3 An old friend appears in the swamp with an unbelievable proposition for Swamp Thing: using a dark spell, it might be possible for the Avatar of the Green to return to his human form as Alec Holland and regain his old life. But all magic has a cost—will Swamp Thing get everything he has ever wanted, or discover the consequences of leaping before you look? Featuring a guest appearance by Zatanna, who is definitely an under-used character.

Mighty Morphin' Power Rangers #1 After the mega popular #0 issues came out, we finally have the start of the new Power Rangers series!  When Rita Repulsa creates an evil Green Power Ranger by brainwashing recent transfer student Tommy, the team is able to free him from her grasp and get him on their side. But with remnants of Repulsa’s control still stirring in the back of Tommy’s mind, he must confront the fact he may be more of a danger to his new team than a help. This is “Green Ranger: Year One.”

Guardians of Infinity #4 This is the dawning of the age of Hermetikus! He’s the Lord of the Newcomers and seems to have access to all of space and time! And he also seems to have complicated history with Stella Nega, leader of the Guardians 1000! With Dan Abnett on this title, this is the only Guardians book for me, this is what Guardians should be.

Mike's Picks:

Black Widow #1 This book is just jaw-dropping.  Mark Waid used so little words, but found a way to keep this story so interesting and exciting.  And Samnee kept it explosive from page to page (Not in the Michael Bay kind of way)!  His art really did most of the talking, and I just soaked it all in!  I encourage everyone to pick this book up, I have no doubt it'll be a beloved classic one day.

I'm happy with the similarities with this book and classic pre-college Spider-Man stories.  The real struggle of keeping your grades up and pleasing your parents to keep them unknowing of your alternate superhero life.  I think Bendis does best writing stories about teens rather than adults, and I think this story shows is a great example of that.  This book has been really exciting to me, and I'm more than pleased with seeing Miles shine in the current Marvel Universe.

Invincible Iron Man #7 I kind of enjoy seeing Tony no longer in a position of great wealth and prosperity, but struggling to keep his company afloat.  And it makes it even interesting that he has to stand in the shadow of Parker Industries which just came out of left field.  It's a neat change as well to see characters move from book to book, with Mary Jane in a supporting role, let's just hope Bendis doesn't turn her into Peeper Pots.

Astonishing Ant-Men #5 This book has been humorous in all the right ways! I love how Scott (who is a not so bad but definitely not so great hero) is trying to be a mentor to the new Giant-man. Which he so unwisely given the suit away for feeling sympathy. Ant-man is filled with humor but definitely maintains a since of heaviness in Scott's life.

Plutona #4 I think anyone who has read comic books has wanted superpowers. Of course, in our reality there are no superheroes with powers and abilities. But, what if we did live in a world where superheroes were common, and there's always the possibility of super powers? What if it was your dream to get superpowers and you randomly came across the corpse of a fallen hero with powers? What would you do to make your dreams a reality?

Imposter #1 This was a book I'm just testing the waters with in the store. I really enjoyed it and I think its for anyone who enjoys books like Lobster Johnson, The Spirit, Doctor Strange, and The Shadow. The idea is pretty cool too. What if every hero we know is just the many personas of one man trying to protect his world and prevent the inevitable threats that are out there. We still have a few copies left! Tell me what you think and we will continue to carry more issues!!

Power Man and Iron Fist #1 The original Heroes of Hire are back on the clock!  POWER MAN and IRON FIST are tracking a mystery with all the ingredients of a classic Heroes-for-Hire tale. Expect old friends, hired goons, crime lords, weird magic, plenty of power, a flurry of fists and as much bromance as you can handle! It’s Power Man and Iron Fist reunited, Iron First is my favorite Marvel character and I'm so happy to have him back, try it out!

Archie #6 Archie and Jughead are on the outs with each other, and now Archie has no one to help him against the fury that is Hiram Lodge! Not even Veronica wants to go up against her own father!  This issue we get to see Reggie Mantle stir some trouble as well.  This is classic Riverdale antics with a fresh spin and I really enjoy this series.

Mighty Thor #4 The path of the All-Mother and Asgard is torn apart by civil war, with Thor caught in the middle. Plus...the wedding of Malekith? Odin has been acting very strange lately and now it's effecting not only Asgard but his marriage!  This is consistently one of Marvel's best books, but what do you expect from Jason Aaron?

Robin Son of Batman #9 So glad Gleason is back on this book. I don't think we have ever seen a time Damian really has felt a sense of duty, and actually revealing emotion. Damian has always put on this pseudo heartless shoes, but now he has more substance. He actually has feelings for a girl! And since Bruce has been out of commission, he has taken up the gauntlet to protect Gotham until Bruce's return. I think Gleason has done a marvelous job on showing us Damian and everything he has to offer.

Silver Surfer #2 This book is a ton-of-fun! It really has this old Stan Lee, Fantastic Four feel, but still modern. Dan Slott, has also done a great job with filling in gaps with Surfers past before he became a Herald for Galactus. It's been pretty corky, it just sets itself apart from other Marvel books.

Spider-Woman #4 We are seeing a side of Jessica Drew we have never seen... A desperate pregnant mother! Especially in the face of one of Marvel's most notorious villains, The Skrull! I love the focus on Spider-woman and the supporting character's that have been in the story. I also, think the ending has a nice surprise!!!

Weirdworld #3 Becca the Earthgirl! Goleta the Wizardslayer! Catbeast! A fellowship of adventurers who might kill each other. Goleta’s badass muscle car needs an enchanted gizmo, and the only person who has one isn’t feeling generous. Morgan Le Fay makes a move against Becca-- and triggers a war on Weirdworld!  This is series is so much fun and, well...weird.  I highly suggest it if you need a little bit of fantasy in your collection.

Zodiac Starforce #4 Evil mean girl Diana, powered by the malevolent goddess Cimmeria, is about to overrun the remaining members of the Zodiac Starforce. Can they put their differences aside and unite to free team leader Emma and save the day? It’s gonna mean so much detention for them if they don’t!  I'm sad to see this series end but it was a lot of fun while it lasted.  This is a book for anyone of all ages to read.

But it could be her town needs a lawman like Red Wolf. Someone to track adversaries that run, and to face those that hide, coiled up in the dark…. All New All Different Avengers #5 I am really enjoying how small scale this team is!  Mark Waid is doing such stupendous work on this book.   The dynamic of veteran members working with a team of younger members who barely have the experience just makes this story top notch.  I love how its written like the Avengers are extinct and it's such a struggle to keep it going, especially in comparison to what the Avengers used to be.  I mean, already by the cover, we can tell they are already losing a team member!

Ultimates #4 This is a great book for anyone who's tired of reading about the same teams with the same superheroes, who are on everyone else' teams.  Some of the team members are probably people you may not have heard of or they bring back those fond suppressed memories from your childhood.  Of course, they do have the one staple hero of Marvel (Captain Marvel), but it works.  I mean four issues in and they have already done great things like curing Galactus' hunger!

Totally Awesome Hulk #3 Now we are starting to see that Cho is't just in control as the Hulk, but there is a struggle to keep the control and hulking out.  Cho is also not alone, his sister is there to help him along with their robot companion Kegger, and now She-Hulk!  I also love how Pak is kind of dangling the history of how Cho became Hulk to begin with.  Definitely makes you want to keep reading!

Howard the Duck #4 She’s obsessed, she’s powerful, she’s ALMOST the new herald of Galactus! And like the rest of the universe, SCOUT is after Howard. But with an eye to ending the hunger of the Devourer of Worlds! Plus: The Silver Surfer! The Stranger! The Guardians of the Galaxy! Chip Zdarsky is so clever and has a way with making me really care for this character.  If you need a fun book to make you laugh then look no further.

The Empirikul is coming, Magic’s days are numbered and Strange is not ready!  This book is always fun each month, it's nice to see Marvel's magical corner of the universe do so well and come to life like this.  If you're not reading this now you definitely should!

Spider-Man #1 I have been anxious for this book ever since its announcement several months ago.  I think this is really the only book Bendis does best, and I love Pichelli's art!  I think this tells a great story of a young man who has to make choices between what's best for him or helping people? Do well I'm school and go somewhere or flunked and save lives?  And it's nice that it's seen through the eyes of someone other than Peter Parker!

Amazing Spider-Man #7 Going in an opposite direction than Bendis' Spider-Man, Dan Slott's Spider-Man has a different set of choices.  Be present and run his company, or leave it behind for other people to be Spider-man.  My favorite thing about this book ins the reintroduction of Cloak and Dagger!  That alone has made the book for me!

Spidey #3 I really love the formatting of this book!  Each issue has a self-contained story, just like the good ole Marvel days!  Like I've said several times before, the original Ultimate Spider-Man books rekindled my love for Spider-Man and this story has those aspects, but still keeping it original.  This week has really been a great Spidey week for me!

Jake's Picks:

Suicide Squad Most Wanted: Deadshot Katana #1 First, Deadshot is on the run, taking on a series of new contracts, and re-establishing himself as the world’s most deadly marksman. But things are about to get complicated for Floyd Lawton when a figure from his past threatens to expose a dark secret…and Deadshot gets word of his next target: Lex Luthor! Then,  Katana needs to know more about Soultaker’s origin if she’s going to have any hope of controlling the sword instead of falling under its influence. Dr. Helga Jace, a Markovian astrophysicist, may be able to shed some light—but before Katana can get the info, Kobra’s forces attack!

Kanan #10 Caleb Dume’s first days in The Clone Wars continue...Master Billaba brings her Padawan and their clones to the Battle of Mygeeto. Separatist Generals Sear and Grievous lay in wait.  Whether you watch Star Wars Rebels or not, this book is fun for any Star Wars fans of all ages.

Aquaman #48 The massive conclusion to Arthur Curry’s exile from Atlantis is here! Can Mera escape from her treacherous sister, Siren? Will the other-dimensional refugees of Thule be rescued? I've really liked what Cullen Bunn has done on Aquaman.  It's such a shame that he's leaving the book so soon, but I highly suggest that if you haven't given this story a arc a chance, you should.

Daredevil #3   I loved Mark Waid's work on this book, but Soule has done a absolute amazing job with bringing Daredevil back to its dark roots. This book is much more grittier than it has been the last few years, and its an absolute fresh and familiar take on the character. Garney's art is brilliant too. He adds to Soule's story so much! Matt has got his secret identity back, but it most certainly hasn't made is life easier, already he has fought the hand, as well as become an instructor for a hero in training, and legally taking on a church/cult.

Prophet: Earth War #1 I think the best thing Image has ever done was hiring writers to recreate Robert Liefeld's original characters for Image.   Joe Keatinge did a amazing job with Glory and Brandon Graham totally turned Prophet into an out-of-this-world space odyssey! Its been a few years since Brandon's and i can't tell you how long I've waited for this book. Finally we will see how John Prophet finish the War he has started!

Superman #48 Clark is getting so close to getting his powers back... Or at least we think. And he's taking the most dangerous risk in doing so, obtaining Kryptonite! This has been a very long and drawn out story between two writers and multiple artist, but I feel like the story is really unique and will be worth the ending. I also love all the tie-ins the help fill in gaps in the store.

Legend of Wonder Woman #1 A new WONDER WOMAN 9-issue miniseries begins here with a story written and penciled by Renae De Liz.  In the beginning there was only chaos. But Hippolyta, Queen of the Amazons, saw a better future—and eventually, her daughter would be destined to bring that new world to life! Before her ultimate fate unfolds, though, Diana of Themyscira must learn the important lessons of an Amazonian childhood!

Devolution #1 Every living creature on Earth has been devolved - the evolutionary clock turned back, reverting all life to odd mutations and prehistoric incarnations. The cities of man are little more than bloody territories ruthlessly dominated by tribal Neanderthals ruling from the backs of mammoths, packs of saber-toothed tigers, and giant man-eating insects. Writer Rick Remender, artist Jon Wayshak, and colorist Jordan Boyd take you on a journey with the last band of "Still Sapien" humans in the hope of locating an antidote and re-evolving the human race.

American Monster #1 In a small Midwestern town, a large man with a horribly scarred face gets off a bus, and takes a room. He spooks the locals--nobody knows him--or do they? It’s impossible to say be-cause he seemingly has no face. The man’s intentions remain unknown, until he takes on a corrupt sheriff and the rural crew of racist arms dealers. The town’s impression of the man changes, and he’s seen as a hero…until his real intentions bubble to the surface. The man isn’t there to end the gang, but to take it over. And he’s just getting started.

Legacy of Luther Strode #4   The Luther Strode book just blows me away with every issue since The Strange Tale of Luther Strode came out several years ago. Captain Marvel #1 It has been weird to read a Captain Marvel book without Kelly Sue Deconnick on writing duty, but Fazekas did an excellent job taking off where Deconnick left it. Danver has always shown she has the ability to lead, but now it'll be her job to take charge of the new Alpha Flight.

Silver Surfer #1 It's nice to read Dan Slott on a book that's not Spider-man. This book really just continues where the last series left off. Slott does a good job of taking something, making it corkey, but deadly series at the same time. I think this book is a nice break from the average superhero genre.

Black Knight #3 You all know how much I love this series at this point. This is it -- the moment you’ve been waiting for! The Black Knight vs. the Avengers! Will Dane and his forces vanquish his old team mates? Or will this mark the end of Dane’s adventures in Weirdworld?

King Conan Wolves Beyond the Borded #1 I know this has been out for a couple weeks but I finally got my hands on a copy.  King Conan grows weary of the crown. When an old soldier visits him with talk of a cursed relic and rumors of Pictish tribes preparing a full-scale invasion on Aquilonia’s borders, Conan eagerly embarks on what could be his final adventure!

STarfire #8 Is Dick Grayson here to stay? Starfire has tackled some big threats during her stay in Key West—from hurricanes to intergalactic bounty hunters, from insane murderers to gargantuan monsters from the deep and everything in between. But our hero’s biggest challenge may be choosing between an ex and a new love interest.

Secret Wars #9 Finally!!  We are going to see how this "All New, All Different" Marvel is created.  Hickman has done an incredible job displaying the magnitude of Doom being a god and the sacrifices made to take down a god, yet nothing can be done to make things the way they were.

All New All Different Avengers #3 I've been pleased as punch to have Mark Waid on an Avengers title!  I love the line up and the mix of characters, and I love how dysfunctional the team is.  The Avengers have disbanded but the need is still there, so you're starting off fresh with a team of adults who have been Avengers and teenagers who are good at what they do, but they've never been on a team.  There's so many dynamics and it works so well!

Might Morphin' Power Rangers #0 I grew up on Fox Kids in the 90's and I remember the first time I watched Power Rangers, it blew my mind.  This show introduced so many things to me and helped me explore other genres such as manga and other mecha comics and shows.  The fighting was awesome and the monsters were great.  I'm glad Boom! could put together a book with Kyle Higgins and use the original team.  This is something I can't wait to share with my kids on day!

Swamp Thing #1 Swamp Thing is back!  And what better creative team to do so than Len Wein and Kelley Jones?  As if Jones' art wasn't enough to interest you, Wein crafts a really fun and well articulated story.  This issue has a very House of Mystery feel; I always thought those old House of Mystery comics from the 70's were a lot of fun.  We get to see the internal turmoil that Swamp Thing constantly goes through, as well as appearances from several other cool characters.  I highly suggest this book.

Uncanny X-Men #1 Cullen Bunn brings us another X-Men book this week with the start of Uncanny X-Men.  Bunn on writing details and the line-up of characters definitely had me interested.  The team consists of Magneto, Sabretooth, Monet, Archangel, and Psylocke.  It's not a team I was expecting but one that has me very interested in how they'll work together.  It reminds be a bit of X-Force, which isn't a bad thing, but it doesn't seem like they're working off the grid, I'm curious if that will have backlashes.

Spider-Man/Deadpool #1 This book is as silly as you'd expect.  Only Deadpool's quips could make even Spider-Man lose his cool, and there is plenty of that in this book.  While I'm not the biggest Deadpool fan in the world, I thought I'd check this out and I'm glad I did.  It is a very funny first issue and the last page left a cliffhanger that will bring me back for more.

Mike's Picks:

Spider-Gwen #4 One thing i love about this book is that there is a lot of emotion involved. It really reminds of classic Spider-man stories but replacing Peter for Gwen, and bringing it up to modern times. Its also interesting to read how a female would have reacted in comparison to Peter did with his responsibility. And the way the introduce the old Marvel characters we love and place them in different roles is just refreshing!

Paper Girls #4 This book has done a really great job of spreading the story out without getting boring or tiresome. The story just reminds me of my favorite movies from the 80's and the art is really great! Each book is very leading into the next with a great amount of surprises at the end of each story!

Batman Beyond #8 We are finally done with first Arc with Drake as the new Batman Beyond. It was one thing with Terry already being from the future knowing how to use everything but Tim has no clue how most future technologies work. He's still in the process of learning how the suit works. It just makes for a new and interesting take on an old favorite!

Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/30/15

Jake's Picks:

Obi-Wan & Anakin #1 I didn't know what to expect from this issue with it taking place during the prequel-era.  But with Charles Soule and Marco Checchetto working on this book, they set up what's going to be a really fun six-issue series.  Obi-Wan and Anakin respond to a distress signal requesting Jedi intervention on what was thought to be a deserted planet.  After crash-landing, it seems like the planet is anything but deserted.  If you're a Star Wars fan I highly suggest this new series.

Clarence: Rest Stops #1 I'm a huge fan of the show Clarence, it's hilarious and the art-style is great.  After I read the first Clarence series I was begging for more and Boom! Studios has delivered.  This mini series follows Clarence and his family as they go on a road trip and all sorts of hilarity ensues.  This is one for kids and adults both to enjoy.

Spidey #2 It's nice to read a Spider-Man book where Peter is back in high school and starting out as Spidey for the first time.  It's a bit hokey but the art is very good and it feels like a breath of fresh air, especially with everything that's happened to Peter over the last couple years.  If you want a fresh start with Spider-Man, this is the book for you.

Mike's Picks:

Captain America White #5 Jeff Loeb has done such a great job showing a relationship between hero and sidekick beyond just being a hero and sidekick.   This book has a real tender feeling that seems earnest through the thoughts of Cap.

Spider-Man 2099 #5 This book has turned dark and I love it.  It really reminds me of the Spider-Man 2099 stories of the 90's and to me, it doesn't get better than that.  I mean, Miguel is ready to rip some heads off!

Savage Dragon #210 Trouble in paradise. Malcolm and Maxine on their honeymoon in hell.  With monster battles and an exotic location, this is Savage Dragon at its best!

Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/23/15

Jake's Picks:

Daredevil #2 I was completely on board this new Daredevil series after reading the first issue.  The story is cool, Ron Garney's art is completely top notch.  I think it's a really interesting idea to give Daredevil a sort of sidekick and I'm looking forward to seeing where that's going.

Batman 66 Meets the Man from U.N.C.L.E. #1 Two 1960s television icons cross paths for a groovy, globe-spanning adventure in this one-of-a-kind miniseries. The deadly organization known as T.H.R.U.S.H. has a new twist in their plans for world conquest—they’re recruiting some of Gotham City’s most infamous villains! Agents Napoleon Solo and Illya Kuryakin bring this information to the one man who knows everything about these new enemies: Batman.

Patsy Walker AKA Hellcat #1 Patsy Walker has managed to escape her past, her enemies and Hell itself (literally), but nothing compares to job hunting in New York City! Between trying to make rent and dodging (literal) bullets, Patsy barely has time to deal with her mother's exploitative romance comics about her childhood resurfacing, much less how they start to interfere with her work and dating life. As she goes from living a double life to a triple, what the Hell is Patsy Walker supposed to do?

Mike's Picks:

Dark Knight III Master Race #2: I know this book isn't getting the best reviews but I find it exciting to see where it's going with Carrie and the big shocker we found out at the end of the first issue.  It just seems like, "Where else could this book go?"

Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/16/15

Jake's Picks:

Weirdworld #1 I've been anticipating this comic for a couple of months now.  Mike del Mundo's art is reason enough for anyone to pick this book up, it's gorgeous.  The story is quite humorous and well-written too, this was overall a wonderful issue.  A young lady gets teleported to Weirworld out of blue and she has to get back to Earth to fulfill a personal quest that I don't want to spoil here.  Check it out!

Dragon Age: Magekiller #1 I was a fan of some of the Dragon Age games.  I'm always up for an RPG or dungeon crawler so I thought this series sounded like fun, and it is!  I was especially surprised to see Greg Rucka on writing details, he does an incredible job.  If you're a fan of the video game series or just need a new fantasy adventure series in your life, I suggest trying out Magekiller.

Justice League United #16 Sigh, this insanely fun series comes to an end with #16 being the final issue.  This series did not get the chance it deserved.  The idea behind the book was great, having a different Justice League team each arc was something I didn't realize was needed in the DCU and it's one that I'm going to miss.  The series goes out with a bang and I highly suggest picking it up if you haven't gotten into JLU yet.

Batman Europa #2 Really the thing that gets me with this book is Jim Lee's art finished in watercolor.  It's incredibly beautiful and adds an awesome atmosphere to the book.  I'm also excited that the book seems to be "non-New 52" along with some other Batman books that have recently released.

Justice League #46 Finally!  I've been waiting for DC to get past all of the one-shots so we could get back on track with the main story.  What will become of Darkseid?!

Descender #8 The last issue just dropped a bomb!  Not only did Tim 21 find robot brother, but we find out that his missing human brother Andy is still alive and now he hunts robots!  This issue has Andy on the hunt for Tim 21, and when he finds him I don't know if it will be for better or worse.

Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/9/15

Jake's Picks:

Head Lopper #2 I am all about a good sword & sorcery comic, Head Lopper is as good as they come.  Andrew Maclean gives us a fun and engaging story with some awesome art to pair with it.  This series has plenty of good humor and world-building to boot.  Think of it as Adventure Time for adults.

Scarlet Witch #1 James Robinson's name on the cover made me want to pick up this book and he didn't disappoint.  Scarlet Witch is one of those characters I'm not crazy familiar with but always thought was cool.  A mysterious new dark magic has made it's way to Wanda's city, and she feels like she needs to stop it as a part of a personal journey.  The art style is perfect for the use of magic and darkness throughout, I'm hooked already.

Batman TMNT #1 This crossover has been anticipated for a long time.  Being a big fan of both the Ninja Turtles and Batman, this is a childhood dream come true.  James Tynion IV and Freddie Williams II show us something we haven't seen before, but something that I think is going to be one hell of a fun ride.

Mike's Picks:

Batman #47 I know that I always picks Batman, but I can't help it!  This new villain is so wicked.  It's been seven issues and we've still been left in the dark about who he is and what his agenda is.  When Mr. Bloom showed himself to Gotham, he made sure we knew how wicked and powerful he is.

Giant Days #9 I started this book when it first came out 9 months ago but didn't pick it up after.  I'm glad I gave it a second chance.  This book does an awesome job at making me relive an emotion.  It may seem a tad bit "CW" drama-ish but it's still good writing!

Secret Wars #8 This was originally supposed to be the last issue but luckily for us Hickman felt like he had more to tell.  I can't believe we are finally seeing the end of this lengthy tale, but I'm ready for an outcome.  I'm also ready to see a giant-sized Ben Grimm clobber Doom as a god.

Jake and Mike's Picks of the Week- 12/2/15

Jake's Picks:

Daredevil #1 We were all sad when we found out that Mark Waid would no longer be writing Daredevil.  But I must tell you, you have nothing to fear with Charles Soule taking the wheel.  This first issue is fantastic; Daredevil is back in New York and he has a fresh start as both Daredevil and Matt Murdock.  Ron Garney is an absolute rock star on artistic duties as well, this book is gorgeous.  With all of this plus Daredevil's new sidekick, this is one book that's a must-read.

Red Wolf #1 Red Wolf is a character I've always found interesting but never knew much about.  This new series takes place after the events of 1872, where Red Wolf is the sheriff of Timely and a mysterious new-comer is bringing anything but peace to his town.  A stellar creative team is working on this title as well, I can't wait to see where it goes.

Jim Henson's Storyteller: Dragons #1 For as long as I can remember, I've been a fan of Jim Henson's creations, especially The Muppets.  Also being a fan of dragons, I thought this book would be a perfect match and it was.  This is the start of a four issue mini series that features various short stories about dragons.  This was a fun standalone issue with great art and beautiful colors.  If you're a fan of Jim Henson, dragons, or fantasy in general, I suggest this book.

Mike's Picks:

Henchgirl #2 This book is so humorous! The art is really enjoyable and the writing is simple but seems very real and relate-able, and the quick humorous quips makes this really fun read. Its definitely got an indie sense to it but its not overbearing with personal and political views other indie buts try to push on the reader.

Carver, A Paris Story #1 Carver kind of has the feel of a 70's suspense story, similar to great movies like The French Connection. I really enjoy Chris Hunt's art, but sometimes the action seems week, but regardless the story is still great to follow, its even got a follow up story at the end done by Paul Pope and his work is really great. I can't wait for the next one.

Totally Awesome Hulk #1 Once again another humorous book! I've never been let down by a Greg Pak book and you won't be either. It's cool to see a teenager Hulk, its almost as if Peter Parker was hit by Gamma Rays rather than been bit by a Radioactive Spider. I also like how the story gives you the action at the beginning with fillers in between to tell you how Cho became the Hulk . Marvel had done good with this new Hulk tale!
